Twilight: Breaking Dawn part 2 review

So on Thursday I went to see the premiere of Twilight: Breaking Dawn part 2 with my friends. I have a Twi-hart in my clique so we just had to go see, and my boyfriend loves vampires so I basically got dragged along.

Personally, since I've read the book, I felt that the story moved too fast in the beginning. They were just going and going and zooming through several chapters, but I suppose they had no choice because there was a time limit.

But overall, the visuals were great. Of course they didn't look 100% real but I don't think that could be helped. The movie started from Bella's point of view and it was pretty amazing seeing the world like how a vampire would see it. i mean, you literally SAW the world in detail. Everything down to the dust particles.

They had a lot of funny scenes in the movie like when Bella found out Jacob had imprinted on Renesmee, and she started shouting at him and was on the verge of kicking his ass. Edward totally loved it.

There were LOTS of funny moments, shall not spoil it for people who haven't caught the movie.

I liked Bella's make up as a vampire. As in, you don't really notice how different she looks from the past Bella. But when they start the flashbacks, you're like, WOW was she that plain before?

And the sex scene was STEAMY. Edward ripped Bella's dress off as though he was tearing paper. My boyfriend leaned down to me and said "Thank God they're rich because they're gonna have to buy new clothes every single time they have sex."

I definitely liked the fight at the ending. It was FULL of surprises and I guarantee that you'd be stunned at who they decided to kill off first. But there's a twist at the ending, so don't worry too much about it. You'll just never expect it.

I thought the actor who portrayed Aro was fantastic though. He made me really hate him. (:

Overall, the movie was an 8/10 for me. (:

Ah Boys To Men movie review

I went to watch Ah Boys To Men part one on the second day that it was released in the cinemas here in Singapore. And overall I thought it was a pretty funny, typically Singaporean movie.

Basically it's a story about a Singaporean boy who doesn't want to serve NS, and tries various methods to get out of it. Even when all his plans fail and he has to enlist in Army anyway, he still tries to do whatever he can to get out of things that they have to do by making up all sorts of excuses for himself.

He has a bad temper, and always thinks that he can get his way and do anything he likes. He refuses to admit to his mistakes, blaming it on everyone around him. When his girlfriend decides to leave him because of his flaws, he still refuses to grow up and see that the problem lies with him. Instead, he does something very stupid and ends up not only harming himself but his family.

At the end of the movie, he realises that even though there is no war in Singapore, everybody still faces their internal wars every day. And he becomes more matured in his thinking about life and about NS. In a sneak peek of part 2, it shows how he put a lot more effort into Army even while faced by peer pressure.

Honestly, the graphics really sucked. But the show was really funny and I couldn't help but laugh out loud many times while watching.

I think that this movie is really very relatable to all Singaporeans. Especially the boys who will be enlisting soon. Because it helps you realise that NS isn't really "sian", and that there's a reason and a purpose as to why all men must enlist. It also helps the rest of us to know what they go through, whether it's a friend, our child, our brother, or our lover. We know what it's like to be in their shoes (or boots). And this movie shows that though NS is tough, there are things to enjoy about and laugh about too.

This movie gets a 7.5/10. All of you should go and catch it!

The Coastal Settlement review Singapore

After a tiring week at school, my parents decided to take me out for teabreak on a Saturday. My dad brought us to this place called The Coastal Settlement at 200, Netheravon Road. It looks as though it's in the middle of nowhere, but it's a really beautiful establishment. Apologies for the lack of pictures, in my excitement , I forgot to take any.

The interior of The Coastal Settlement looks very vintage. They have things like old typewriters and phones lying around. What intrigued me most was that they had chairs hanging up on the walls. But my dad, being the witty man he is, commented that he wouldn't want chairs hanging on the walls in our home lest they drop on somebody's head. That would be a nasty blow.

The ambience of the place was pretty cosy. The lighting was yellow to give it a very warm feel. And there were many caucasians too, so I guess they liked the feel of the place.

What's different about the things that they have on their menu is that majority of it isn't western food, but local food with a bit of a twist. I remember seeing Beef Hor Fun and I think it was a Fish Otah sandwich? Correct me if I'm wrong because I only glanced at it once. But it really was interesting.

So after taking in the view of the place, we decided to get down to ordering something. And since neither of us were in the mood for something cold, we ordered some sandwiches. This was the first that came. If I remember properly, it's called Toasty, or Toastie. Not exactly sure of the spelling.
But what I can tell you is, that it tasted fantastic. It was just layers and layers of ham sliced thinly and covered with melted cheese. It also had tomatoes inside, but for all those people who don't like vegetables like me, don't fret because there's so much ham in there that you won't even know you're munching on tomato. And the toasted bread they use is good too, it's crunchy but soft.
This dish gets 7.5/10 for me.

The next sandwich we ordered was out of curiousity. We HAD to try it because my brother's name is Reuben, and apparently the name of this sandwich is the Reuben Sandwich.
To all meat lovers, this is the beef sandwich to die for.
It has so many layers of beef, with just that bit of pepper to make it just right and it was just heaven in my mouth. Normally I don't eat sandwiches because I just like to eat the meat on it's own, but this was really delicious.
It had a bit of pickle in it, I think so that it would give the sandwich that crunch. But don't worry if you're not a fan of pickles, because these aren't sour and you can barely taste them. But if you really don't like them, just take them out. Good sandwich. I'd give it a 8/10.

And that's my review of the Coastal Settlement! Hope you enjoyed it and thanks for reading!

Self-Pity

My personal opinion on people who wallow in self-pity. I just feel that, yes, everyone is entitled to some self-pity sometimes. We need to feel bad about ourselves so we can improve.

But what annoys me the most is when people actually realize that there are things they need to change, but they don't want to put in the effort to do so, and they just keep complaining about the same things over and over again.

The only person with the ability to make any difference in your life is you. Just feeling bad about yourself isn't going to make a difference unless you take action. If you need help, go get help. But nothing's going to happen unless you actually DO something.

Of course people would say that I don't know what they're going through and I don't have the right to say anything. Yes, I may not know what you're going through, but are you really just going to sit there and keep complaining? Because no one can help you but yourself.

So buck up, and start to do something about it.

But everything's just my opinion anyway.

About The Buzz

I've always been curious what it would be like to have a blog that wouldn't just be about me but the things and the people around me. Would people even want to read a blog like mine? Or written by me at least since I'm definitely not well known.

But I decided to give it a shot anyway. So as of next time, I guess I'll be talking about food, movies, things that excite or surprise me, and personal opinions regarding the world.

To whoever stumbles upon my blog -if there ever is anybody-, I hope you enjoy your read. ;) I'm a pretty lazy blogger though so I apologise if I take a long while to update.

Till next time,

The Busy Bee.
